Everyone is sad. Everyone is so sad. Everyone in the whole wide world is sad. Everyone is so sad. The world is burning down. The whole world is burning right down. The world's on fire, so let's watch it burn to the ground. The whole world's on fire. Let's sing the saddest old songs. Let's sing the saddest old songs. Everyone in the world knows all of the words by heart. Everybody is sad. Everyone is sad. Everyone is so sad. Everyone in the whole wide world is sad. Everyone is so sad.

To everyone who's given something up, To keep your sword's edge razor sharp, To keep your knees from giving out. To everyone who kept the torches burning. Through winter's harshest storms they never one went out. To everyone who cries alone at night, Because there's no one left for you to say goodbye to. To everyone with curses on your tongue, Because you've given all your love and you've been lied to. Don't look at me that way. I've got no answers. Did you think I would? I've got no answers, Just a voice, a couple songs, and a guitar. And you can't spend that. You can only take it with you, If the melodies have wormed inside your head. No, you can't spend that. You can only take it with you, If the melodies have wormed inside your head.

I've got two eyes and this big old stupid heart, That beats so hard when I see you. I've got some habits I'm not proud of, And this is only one of many. I say this, though I know you won't listen: I'm okay with all your bad decisions, 'Cause it's not like I don't think I'll be alright. I'll move on with all the friends who still care, And be done with all the ones who just aren't there, 'Cause it's not like I don't think I'll be alright. And I'll wake up next to you, And I'll fake a smile for you, And I'll break out a song I wrote for you. So when we break up, you won't forget me. In your makeup, you look so pretty. And I'll make up one more song for you, 'Cause that's just what I do. You move on as if you never loved me, Though I'm pretty sure you're still thinking of me, And it's clear when someone looks you in the eye. Now I'm making out with someone new, Though I'm still faking like I'm not thinking of you, And I hope that it's not showing in my eyes. And I'll wake up next to you, And I'll fake a smile for you, And I'll break out a song I wrote for you. So when we break up, you won't forget me. In your makeup, you look so pretty. And I'll make up one more song for you, 'Cause that's just what I do. Woah-oh-oh. That's just what I do. Woah-oh-oh. I've got two eyes and this big old stupid heart, That beats so hard when I see you. I've got some habits I'm not proud of, And this is only one of many. And it's probably going to kill me, Though you find it quite endearing. It's just one thing you like about me, And there are things I like about you, like your stupid pretty face. Oh no, I see this ending badly. And now I'm going down in flames. Looks like I'm going down tonight. And now I'm going down in flames. Looks like I'm going down tonight. And now I'm going down in flames. Looks like I'm going down tonight.

This place is filled with ghosts, With names that time forgot, And they will linger here after we're gone. Oh, this place is filled with ghosts. This place is filled with ghosts. They're ancient and they're sad. The saddest ghosts in the whole world, Are the ones that haunt this place. This place is filled with ghosts. This place is filled with ghosts. This place is filled up to the brim. Oh, this place is filled with ghosts. This place is filled with ghosts. This place is filled with ghosts. This place is filled up to the brim. Oh, this place is filled with ghosts.

There was some grit in the machine, Oh, it's never been that clean. It's been grinding down these gears for way too long. So something had to break. It wasn't only one mistake. It was accumulated wear that went ignored. Folks kept getting poorer, And their friends kept getting poorer, So they took the matter into their own hands. These folks all got together, To make the world a little better, But the bourgeoisie was standing in their way. So the guillotines came out and they lopped off those little heads. These severed heads, they wondered how they got into this mess. Before the world went dark, before it all would fade away, They wondered why they had no time to pray. I guess it's fair sometimes, People are pardoned for their crimes. Forgiveness has its place and it has its time. But if you say "Eat or be eaten," And the people catch you cheating, Forgiveness is all spent, and it's not yours. Because the guillotines are coming; they'll lop off your little head, And your severed head will wonder how it got into this mess. Before the world goes dark, before the final fadeaway, You'll wonder why you had no time to pray. (Mumblecore) No, we never gave you time to run away.

There's a field of poison ivy dotted with some yellow flowers, Inside a dream I had three nights ago. I couldn't shake the feeling that it held some deeper meaning, A universe of possibility. Now I'll underscore some words inside a notebook, And eulogize all the words that I've been crossing out. I'm writing a proposal filled with proper punctuation. I can use a semicolon; that's one skill that I possess. We'd walk but we'd never get there, Run but we'd never make it, Drive but we're running out of gas. We've lost sight of all the winners. Fall in line with the quitters. We'd lost direction years ago. Maybe I'll be fine with a little bit of time. Maybe I'll be fine with a little bit of time. Maybe I'll be fine with a little bit of time. Maybe I'll be fine with a little bit of time.

about

Everyone Is Sad is an odd little collection of songs that don't really fit with any of the other projects we're working on. We put them together so they could all hang out in one place.

A Sunken Ship Irony Minneapolis, Minnesota

Like an old ghost ship rising from cursed waters, A Sunken Ship Irony emerges once again. We are soaked, old, and bruised, but we're still alive (if you could call this living).
